Rent Vietnam (rent-vietnam.com) is a catalog of housing and visarun listings in Vietnam. By registering, you agree to this policy. Below is what data we collect, why, and who may process it.
Who is responsible for your data
The data controller is whoever runs the site and decides why your data is processed. Controller: Rent Vietnam project (rent-vietnam.com). Data inquiries: support@rent-vietnam.com.
What data we collect
When you register: username, email, optional display name. When you sign in: IP address (at registration and later logins), session data (cookies). When you submit a listing: text, photos, and contacts you provide. In support: email, subject, message, and attached photos. In the on-site assistant chat: message text (FAQ stays in the browser; operator chat is stored on our servers). When reporting a listing: text and photos. With Google sign-in: email and name from your Google profile.
Why we use it
Data is used to run your account, moderate listings, respond in support and chat, handle reports, prevent abuse, and enforce site rules. Login codes are sent to your email.
Legal basis
Registration and accepting this policy are based on your consent. Running your account, moderation, security, storing IP addresses, and responding to requests are based on site rules and legitimate interest (protecting users and the service from abuse).
Cookies and local storage
Technical session cookies (rv_session, rv_admin_session) are required to stay signed in. Your browser (localStorage) may store: favorite listings, support ticket list, and operator chat identifier. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies.
Third-party services
We use providers that process data on our instructions: Google (Google OAuth sign-in), Timeweb (login codes and mail), Neon cloud database (accounts, listings, tickets), VPS hosting. The listings map loads tiles from CARTO / OpenStreetMap servers — opening the map may send them technical data (IP, request parameters). We do not sell your data.
Storage and transfer
Data is stored with the providers listed above; servers may be outside your country (including the EU). We do not sell personal data. Contacts in listings are visible to other visitors — only share what you are comfortable making public.
Retention
Account data is kept while the account is active. After a deletion request, core data is removed within a reasonable time. Support tickets, chat, and reports may be kept longer for disputes and security, but no longer than needed for those purposes.
Your rights
You may request access, correction, or deletion of your account by contacting support. Deleting your account withdraws consent for account-related processing. If blocked, the reason and duration are shown in your profile.
Age
The site is not intended for anyone under 16. If you believe a child submitted data without parental consent, email support@rent-vietnam.com.
Policy changes
We may update this page. The current version is at rent-vietnam.com/privacy; the date is shown at the top. We may announce material changes on the site.
